Consignor Terms
All consignors are responsible for reading and understanding the following terms of consignment, as well as any supplemental notices or announcements.
All property offered and sold through Showplace Antique + Design Center’s Online Auctions Department is offered and sold on the terms and conditions in this entire document. By participating in any sale you acknowledge that you are bound by these terms and conditions.
The consignor commissions Showplace Antique + Design Center to sell any items he/she consigns to its Live Online Auctions Department to the highest bidder by public auction. The consignor certifies that he/she is the owner of these goods, merchandise, and/or property and has good title and the right to sell and that they are free from all encumbrances. I understand these consigned items are subject to the following two-tiered structure of non-negotiable consignment fees:
| Consignment Fee | Hammer Price |
| 15% | $500 and above |
| 25% | $499 and below |
Consignment fees are deducted from the realized hammer price. No consignment fees are collected for unsold items.
Before an item is offered at auction, the consignor and Showplace may agree on a reserve price, which is a confidential minimum selling price at or below the item’s low estimate. It is the consignor’s responsibility to request a fair and reasonable reserve. However, Showplace rarely accepts a reserve for any item with a low estimate below $500, and unless a specific reserve is arranged, a discretionary reserve is fixed at fifty percent of the low estimate.
Showplace reserves the right to refuse any consignment(s) it judges to be inappropriate for auction.
Consignors can generally expect all payments resulting from the sale of his/her item in Showplace Antique + Design Center’s live online auctions within 3 to 4 weeks after the auction ends. Showplace reserves the right to hold all payments to the consignor until:
• Payment has been received from the winner by Showplace
• The item has been delivered or picked up and received in good order by the winner
Only after these procedural steps are completed does Showplace issue checks to the consignor. In the event of a dispute, payment will be delayed accordingly.
Consignors ARE NOT permitted to bid on their own items once the reserve has been met. If this does happen, the auctioneer will be forced to cancel the lot.
If a lot has been passed/unsold at auction, the consignor may elect to re-list the item in a subsequent Showplace auction. However, all reserves must be reduced by at least ten percent. If an unsold item is not scheduled to be re-listed, it must be picked up within 10 days after the end of the auction. If the item is not picked up within this 10-day period, the consignor will incur a storage and handling fee of $50 per week. Showplace is not responsible for damage/theft/loss of merchandise beyond this 10-day period.
Consignors are not allowed to engage in post-auction sales without the knowledge and consent of Showplace Antique + Design Center. All post-auction and private sales are subject to the standard two-tiered structure of consignment fees. In addition, Showplace must be notified by the consignor if he/she communicates with a potential buyer or vice versa. Neither the consignor nor the buyer shall skirt the consignment fees and buyer’s premium.
Showplace Antique + Design Center reserves the right to cancel any sale or listing for any reason whatsoever. Showplace is neither responsible nor obligated to list an item in an auction it feels may jeopardize our credibility or reputation.
Showplace Antique + Design Center is fully responsible for all consignments on its property within the specified and agreed upon timeframe. If said merchandise is damaged or lost, Showplace is responsible for repair and/or refund of the established reserve price for the item.
