This oil on canvas by WPA listed American painter Agnes Millen Richmond, depicts a large-scale house at midday, rendered in the impressionist mode. The artist's thoughtful brushwork manifests a sense of light and depth in this exterior scene, as sunlight hits the geometric architectural shapes, Stark and bright against the surrounding natural elements and organic forms. Markings include the artist's signature [Agnes M. Richmond] to the back of the canvas. This framed painting is in overall very good condition, consistent with age. Artist Agnes Millen Richmond (American, 1870–1964), born in Alton, Illinois, began studying painting at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts, continuing at the Arts Students League, following her relocation to New York in 1888; she eventually became an instructor there, from 1910-1914. Within that period, she was awarded the Watrous Prize in 1911 and would be recognized as one of the most esteemed American woman painters and teachers of the early 20th Century. Although known best for her portraits of female sitters, the influence of French impressionists, not to mention her summers in Gloucester, Massachusetts and Mountainville, New York, drew the artist to paint the natural setting, including landscapes, seascapes and many exterior scenes.

An oil on canvas painting by American artist Mildred Crooks entitled "Lady of the Night"and signed in the upper left corner. Mildred Crooks was born in Chicago in 1899 and worked in commercial arts in Chicago before moving to New York City. She Studied in Paris for a time and had an atelier there as well as in Cannes and exhibited regularly in Paris and New York. She painted throughout her life and exhibited all over the world before passing away in 1972.

African-American painter Beauford Delaney (American, 1901-1979), born in Knoxville, Tennessee, was greatly impacted by the Harlem Renaissance cultural arts revolution of New York City, holding numerous exhibitions and eventually moving to teach art as a WPA listed artist. By the 1950s Delaney, among many African American expatriates, would continue his artistic career in culturally enriched Paris. This untitled oil on linen depicts a impressionist waterfront landscape, a unique subject for the artist, best known for portraiture. Markings include artist's signature and date ['41, Beauford Delaney] to lower right corner. This work of art remains in very good condition, with no structural issues. Dimensions provided reflect painting without frame.
Raised in Lithuania, Kovarsky was educated in Paris and Palestine. The product of a religious family, he later moved to Safad, the ancient cradle of Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah, before settling in New York City in 1951. He entered the American post-war scene, where he was generally understood as an Israeli artist and included in the Boston Institute for Contemporary Art’s ‘Seven Painters of Israel’, which was billed as “the first full-scale manifestation of contemporary Israeli painting.” Shortly after a warm reception at the Boston Institute for Contemporary Art, Kovarsky was honored with a solo exhibit at the Jewish Museum. In his day, the renowned Poindexter Gallery in Manhattan represented him. This modernist figure study, produced circa 1950s, depicts a portrait of a long necked figure, rendered in the abstract Expressionist style. Markings include the artist's signature [Y. Kovarsky] to the bottom right corner of the canvas. The painting is in overall very good condition, consistent with age; giltwood frame comes included, some minor wear to corners.
An oil on canvas painting of a reclining partially nude woman and two cats in an interior scene. The piece is signed and dated (1931) in the lower right. Fernand Gaston Longchamp was an impressionist and expressionist artist born in America to a French mother and Cayuga-Iroquois father. His family moved to France around the time of Gaston's birth and his father, an artist himself, was acquainted with many prominent artists in Paris such as Renoir, Signac and Seurat. Gaston would eventually apprentice with his father and became familiar with these artists himself. By fourteen he was working with painters in Montmartre and benefited from insights from Raoul Dufy, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse and others. He worked with Picasso painting stage designs for the Russian Ballet in 1911 and with Marc Chagall painting scenes for Stravinsky's Firebird. He briefly attended the Academie des Beaux Arts before returning to America in the 1920s where he would go on to become one of the foremost set designers in the United States. He set up a studio in Kintnersville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he worked prolifically until retiring in the 1970s. He passed away in 1986.

Henry Clarence Pitz (American, 1895-1976) "Dancers Backstage" Oil on canvas Signed lower left Sight: Height 30"X width 22" Framed: Height 39"X width 31" American artist Henry Clarence Pitz, born 1895 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had a budding interest in art from an early age, going on to attend the Philadelphia Museum College of Art in 1914-1918, and the Spring Garden Institute. Following his services in the Army Medical Corps during World War I, he went on to become a published illustrator as well as author of over 160 books. As a painter, his uniquely expressionistic works portrayed a broad range of scenes and narratives. In this painting are three figures, identified as dancers, set in the crowded backstage space, their posture natural and unrehearsed, unlike how they would appear before an audience. Markings include [Henry C. Pitz] to the lower left corner. Despite presence of wear to the canvas, this painting remains in good condition.

John Konstantin Hansegger(1908-1989) was a unique figure in 20th Century Art, working as he did at the highest level in most of the major movements of the past century. His career spanned seven decades and five continents, and produced at least six major periods and several minor ones. His mastery extended over Cubism, synthetic cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, portraiture(he painted many culture icons from life including Picasso, Einstein, and Albert Schweitzer), and several styles of his own. He was a member of the Surindependants in Paris in the 1930’s winning the Silver Medal of Paris in 1939 with one of his groundbreaking “Abstract Parallels” paintings, and working in close association with Fernand Leger, Picasso, Alfred Reth and Mondrian This painting, “The Soothsayer(card reader)”is one that incorporates the Abstract Parallels, along with more figurative elements. This is the second version of this painting, the first being executed and exhibited in Switzerland in 1942. During the war he returned to his native Switzerland where he was a founding member of Paul Klee’s Allianz. During this period he founded the historical gallery Des Eaux Vives, in Zurich, which is credited with helping to keep modern art alive in Europe by providing a venue for such artists as Kandinsky, Klee, Max Bill, Walter Bodmer, Hans Arp, Max Huber, Sophie Tucker Arp, Richard Lohse and many others during the dark days of World War II. During this period he worked primarily in the Art Konkrete style, sometimes blended with his Abstract Parallel motif. After the war his painting exploded in new directions. When he was Invited to hold a one-man show at the Princeton Museum in 1953, he elected to stay and settle in America where he continued to paint, show and innovate until his death in 1989, a few months after the major retrospective given him at the Kunst Museum in his home city of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Several books have been written about his career. His work still looks remarkably fresh and contemporary today, is being discovered by more and more designers, and was recently seen in Martha Stewart’s Living.
