Realist WPA Era Plaster Sculpture of a Family

$2,500.00

Description:

A circa 1930s WPA era sculpture of a family, by an unknown, possibly American artist, in plaster with a grey glaze. The realistically rendered figures of father as patriarch, his wife, and three children create a sentimental image of a family unit. The social realist sculpture was likely a study for a monumental work. Although it remains unsigned, the superb details indicate the work of a master sculptor. In overall good vintage condition, wear consistent with age, two of the man's fingers slightly chipped.
