A Meiji Period porcelain vase, meticulously decorated by master artist Gyokuzan (Chin Jukan XII), featuring ornate depictions of cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums and birds. The Tokyo National Museum and the Museum of Imperial Collections are homes to several of the artist’s works. Made in Japan by the Chin Jukan kiln, the most prized in Japan for the Satsuma art form. The kiln is still run by descendants of the Korean potters brought to Kagoshima in the late 16th century.
