A large silkscreen print on Japan-paper entitled "Girl at Piano"by Will Barnet. The artist was born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1911 and studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He excelled at both painting and printmaking. He would go on to teach at various leading American institutions such as Yale, Cornell and the art Students League. He changed his style throughout his artistic career; moving from Expressionism influenced work in his early career to more Abstract pieces through the 50s and 60s and finally into figurative works by the 70s. He has exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and his works are in the collections of numerous American museums including the National Gallery of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
