History of designer: Carl Erickson opened Erickson Glass works in Bremen, Ohio. He was accomplished at creating distinctive and imaginative art glass and was most prolific between 1943 and 1961.Initially starting at Pairpoint Manufacturing Company in Massachusetts, he remained employed for more than 20 years. In 1932,he took his talent to Libbey Glass in Toledo where he stayed for only four years.
One of his most famous work was a chandelier he designed for Greta Garbo. After this recognition, he was sought after by other glass companies, including Blenko Glass Company in West Virginia, where he was hired as a designer. Part of his job at that time was to help train and teach apprentices in his trade.
In 1943,he and his brother, Stephen Erickson, fledged out on their own by buying a factory in Bremen, Ohio. His design, genius of the controlled bubble glassware, was highly regarded and sought-after. He continued to expand his design and the majority of the glass pieces manufactured at the Erickson Glass Works company were his creations.
