Style: Charlotte was particularly well-versed in a technique and style called tube-lining. It was an advanced form of decoration where liquid clay would be squeezed from a rubber bag and then through a glass nozzle. It makes room for further decoration.

History: Charlotte Antoinette Adolphine Rhead was born into the famous Rhead family. Charlotte's father was Frederick Rhead. He specialized in the art of pâte-sur-pâte, a specialized form of ceramic decoration. Before Charlotte Rhead became a renowned English ceramics designer, she was employed by T & R Boote in Burslem where she learned the art of tube-lined decoration.
Charlotte Rhead subsequently found employment at Wardle and Co, Keeling & Co of Burslem, T & R Boote, Wood and Sons, and Burgess and Leigh. In the 1930s, Charlotte moved to Tunstall and joined AG Richardson – Crown Ducal England was their brand name.
