Style: Design Institute of America focused on simple form and function. Their distinct Mid-century modern works were hard to miss.
Materials Used: Glass and metal were the hallmark of Design Institute of America. DIA used lacquered wood too. These materials were used to create gorgeous tables and curios.
History of designer: Winzeler served in the Air Material Command as a first lieutenant between 1955 and 1957. He eventually joined Winzeler Stamping (his family business) in Montpelier. The company produced custom metal stamping components for the home furnishings industry. In 1970, Winzeler became the CEO and chairman. After 1997, he gave up the CEO position and stayed on as the company's chairman.
Robert Cameron Winzeler Jr. possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He was the founder of Winzeler Pacific, Winzeler South and Acme Metal Products. In 1971, the company was renamed Design Institute of America (DIA). DIA was renowned for its transitional and modern furnishings and accents.
