History: Gio Ponti was renowned as an Italian Master of Architecture. He was one of the most important designers and essayists in the twentieth century. In addition to excelling in the architectural industry, he also produced a vast amount of work in the furniture sector. Some of those works included glassware, ceramics, chairs, lamps, cabinets, and more. One of Ponti’s signature furniture designs is the sleek Superleggera chair. It etched out a new perspective on traditional Italian furniture by blending functionality with style.
Gio Ponti's career reached its climax in 1950 when he won the commission to design the Pirelli Tower, which is Milan's second skyscraper. He collaborated with Arturo Danusso and Pier Luigi Nervi to complete the prestigious project.
