Style: Karl Springer became renowned for his Bauhaus, Art Deco and classical Chinese influenced the style of furniture.
Materials Used: Karl Springer liked to experiment and use materials such as horn, leather, llacquered parchment, shagreen, metal, glass and rare woods in his furniture designs.
History: Karl Springer was born in Berlin in 1931 and moved to New York in 1957. His design career started in bookbinding which is where he honed many of the skills he would later use in furniture design. By 1960, he started to concentrate solely on designing furniture and soon his work was sought after by clients in search of high-end furniture. Once business started to grow, his brother Joachim joined the team in order to grow the company even larger.
By the 1980’s, Karl Springer had opened showrooms not only in New York but also in Los Angeles and Chicago. As the demand for their services grew, they extended the showrooms to Munich, Germany and Tokyo. Karl Springer's designs are still popular and highly sought-after by interior designers and design enthusiasts to this day.
