Dr. Revolt. 'Truth is Cool'. Spray paint on NYC bus map, signed. Framed: 38.13 in; H x 28.5 in; W x 2.63 in; D Sight: 32.25 in; H x 22.5 in Revolt is a seminal graffiti practitioner renowned for his contributions to "Wild Style" and "Style Wars" both Classic hip-hop films. He began tagging in 1977 as a member of the Rolling Thunder Writers (RTW). His individual reputation was established when he took over the Broadway #1 line, then went "all-city"; with colorful, animation-influenced art. In addition to his work on the street, Revolt created the Classic Yo! MTV Raps logo, designed album art for The Fun Lovin' Criminals, The Black Crows, Camp Low, and Grandmaster Flash, among others. He is widely recognized in the Fine art world, having shown with galleries around the world and achieved auction results upward of $10,000. This work,"Truth is Cool"; was executed on a New York City bus map and produced to benefit the on-line hip-hop lifestyle magazine by the same name. This piece, in very good condition, comes framed, with Lucite backing against the map, on reverse. Markings include the artist's signature to the front, bottom right corner, as well as to the back, bottom left.
A vintage mixed media abstract expressionist inspired artwork titled "Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow"by Barbara Quackenbush (1929-2012). The piece is composed of painting and collage elements. Barbara Quackenbush split time between Harrisonburg, Virginia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her artistic training at George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and exhibited locally an nationally throughout her career. She passed away in 2012.
