A pair of bookends with spheres mounted on classically styled pedestals, entirely crafted of carved and polished yellow marble; felt tabs to base. Very good condition, consistent with age and use.

An oil on canvas painting by American artist Mildred Crooks entitled "Lady of the Night"and signed in the upper left corner. Mildred Crooks was born in Chicago in 1899 and worked in commercial arts in Chicago before moving to New York City. She Studied in Paris for a time and had an atelier there as well as in Cannes and exhibited regularly in Paris and New York. She painted throughout her life and exhibited all over the world before passing away in 1972.

A very rare desk and chair, designed by K.E.M. Weber circa 1930s. The chair features a continuous tubular chrome base, with leather upholstered seat and back. The desk also features a base made of one continuous chrome tube, with forest green lacquered metal side drawers and a forest green lacquered plywood top. The chair still maintains its original paper label. This is a rare example of American Machine age design, which was influenced by both the Art Deco and the Bauhaus movements. Overall fair vintage condition, with age appropriate wear to the desk and chair, as well as significant cracking and tears to the original leather seat and back on the seat. This modern ceramic sculpture of a grinning fat cat derives much inspiration from artist Fernando Botero (b. 1932), best known for portraying heavy-set figures and animals in his works of art. The sculpture's clean lines and minimal details marries well with the smooth matte glazed surface. Markings include signature and impressed stamp (albeit indiscernible) to the lower back of the cat. Despite minor presence of wear, including chips and scuffs to the surface, this piece remains in good overall condition.

Barbara Quackenbush split time between Harrisonburg, Virginia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her artistic training at George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and exhibited locally an nationally throughout her career. She passed away in 2012.
