An early 20th Century bed, influenced by the style of 18th Century English designer Thomas Chippendale, features an arched wooden headboard, carved and gilted, with beautifully rendered Chinese style pagoda and ho-ho birds, and a printed image of Francois Boucher's 'The Four Seasons: Spring' (1755) in the center, carved and gilt rocaille and scrolling acanthus decorate the bed rails, and cabriole legs.

Barbara Quackenbush split time between Harrisonburg, Virginia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her artistic training at George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and exhibited locally an nationally throughout her career. She passed away in 2012.
