Mildred Crooks was born in Chicago in 1899 and worked in commercial arts in Chicago before moving to New York City. She Studied in Paris for a time and had an atelier there as well as in Cannes and exhibited regularly in Paris and New York. She painted throughout her life and exhibited all over the world before passing away in 1972.
